Do you know someone who is committed to and has made a significant difference in building a sustainable food system? Nominate them for OEFFA’s Stewardship, Beginning Farmer or Service Award! The deadline for nominations is January 1, 2024.

Stewardship Award

  • Has at least ten years of commercial production experience and has demonstrated an elevated level of innovation and/or commitment to ecological, profitable, and/or socially just production and marketing practices. 
  • Has demonstrated a capacity to adapt and share innovative practices with other farmers over time 
  • Derives a significant portion of their income from farming
  • Actively farming or farmed in Ohio or one of the states serviced by OEFFA’s Organic Certification Program
Beginning Farmer Award
  • Has three to ten years of commercial production experience and has demonstrated an elevated level of innovation and/or commitment to ecological, profitable, and/or socially just production and marketing practices.  
  • Has demonstrated a capacity to use innovative strategies to overcome systemic barriers faced by new farmers 
  • Has demonstrated a capacity to participate in, learn from and contribute to the networking and learning of other farmers 
  • Derives a significant portion of their income from farming
  • Actively farming in Ohio or one of the states serviced by OEFFA’s Organic Certification Program
Service Award
  • Has made significant and meaningful non-farming contributions of service that improve the successful adoption of ecological, profitable or socially just agricultural practices or systems
  • Contributions of talent, time or resources that provide leadership, program delivery, organizational administration, networking, communication, policy advocacy, market development, fundraising, research, extension, education or other forms of service to ecological agriculture qualify.
  • Service should be provided to OEFFA, directly to farmers, agencies, institutions, government, or other private or public entities in Ohio or one of the states serviced by OEFFA’s Organic Certification Program
