The member will serve 675 hours for the year, approximately 15 hours per week. The position begins October 1, 2020 and runs through September 30, 2021 and includes a 400.00 a monthly living stipend, education award, and loan deferment. An office will be available in Ozark.
The AmeriCorps member will receive training and tutoring and will then tutor 10-15 adult learners who need basic literacy and/or ESL instruction. The member will also recruit around five new learners and will help students gain access to job skills such as time management, team work, job searches, and other literacy-based needs as identified by the student. The AmeriCorps member will also be in charge of recruiting a minimum of five new volunteer tutors and train them in best practices and curriculum to teach adult learners. The AmeriCorps member must have a commitment to the community and believe in the power of reciprocal learning.
