This ensemble begins in Fall 2022 and will be directed by Dr. Guido Sanchez Portuguez, UIUC Professor of Guitar.

By filling out this form, you are starting the process of becoming a part of the Latin American Ensemble, the first music group of its kind in the history of UIUC. This first step is just an indication of your interest. An email will be sent to all interested students at the start of Fall 2022 semester to inform you of the audition dates for ensemble.

Never been in an ensemble? Not a music major?...music major who has never played Latin Music? don't speak Spanish or Portuguese? That's all okay! As long as you are an intermediate to advanced level musician, Dr. Sanchez will fill in the rest for you--he directed the Latin American Popular Music Ensemble at Indiana University for nearly a decade, and he's excited to bring that experience to students at Illinois.
