2023 - 2024 CULINARY COHORT
Windy Hill Middle school is the first Lake county middle school to have a culinary cohort. Students accepted into this program will take Beginning Culinary (6th), Exploring Hospitality and Tourism(7th), and Advanced Culinary Arts(8th). This vertical progression gives students a well rounded learning of the culinary/hospitality industry and allows them to earn up to two industry certifications. Students will be participating in things from hands-on cooking labs, projects, running the teacher café and so much more.
Both the Beginning Culinary and the Hospitality classes are a semester class each school year with the exception of Advanced Culinary Arts. Not every student that will be in the cohort will get into the Advanced Culinary class, as it has limited space, is one class period, and is for the entire school year. To be chosen for the Advanced Class students need to demonstrate growth, positive work ethic, positive attitude, and desire for culinary. The advanced class is more intense as they will be working towards earning the big NRFSP industry certification as well as compete in Food Truck Wars and many other things.
If your child is interested in following the Culinary Arts track starting in 6th grade please have them fill out this application. They will need to have two teacher recommendations. They can put their teacher’s names on the form and I can contact them or they can email me at
