Thank you for your interest in Goonhilly's Summer School!

You can find some brief information about the programme, and apply, below.
Applications must be submitted via this Google Form by 1700 on the 14th of April.

All applicants will be notified as to whether their application was successful by the end of April. Successful applicants will be sent a full information pack and will be required to complete and return the appropriate paperwork (including parental and school/college consent) to secure their place.

Please send any questions to education.outreach@goonhilly.org where we'll be happy to try and answer them!

What is Goonhilly Summer School?
Our Summer School is a 5-day course designed for Year 12 students with a keen interest in satellite and space communications. Students are offered the chance to learn about the the basics of satellite communications and the work we do at Goonhilly, while developing their understanding of related STEM topics. The week features a mixture of lectures, demos, tours, and team project work, as well as an opportunity to hear from other organisations working in the local space sector.

Please note that while Goonhilly Summer School has been approved by Cornwall Council as a Work Experience placement, participants will not be job-shadowing staff as they would in a traditional placement - with the exception of demos and tours, the week is entirely "classroom-based".

To get a taste of our Summer School, check out this short video featuring participants from 2022!

Successful applicants will:
Currently be in Year 12;
Be required to complete and return the appropriate consent forms;
Be undertaking relevant studies and have a reasonable level of competency in STEM subjects;
Be responsible for organising their own transport, packed lunch, and (where required) accommodation;
Be willing to participate in group project work and presentations.
