Risk Assessment
Why bother?

By getting elected onto your committee you are now in a position of responsibility for your society's Health & Safety, including other people who may be affected by its activities and events.

A risk assessment is not just a box ticking exercise, it is a useful checklist of what might go wrong and how your society and committee can reduce the risk.

If you have completed everything as you should, and have implemented processes as far as can be reasonably expected, then you are not accountable for incidents that then occur.

The flowchart below explains the process this risk assessment will take.

There are 10 steps.
You will be guided the whole way through the process.

You will be asked to think about the risks associated with your activity and how you can best reduce these.

The completed risk assessment needs to be reviewed, updated and signed off every year by the incoming committee.
You will be able to make any necessary changes at any point, even after submission.
