Please complete this application to participate in the RCN sponsored Industry Mentoring program.
The goal of this program is to build stronger connections between industry scientists and early career scientists. The interactions facilitated by this program will be an opportunity for trainees to build their networks and receive support and information on careers.
All are welcome to apply but this program is primarily intended for graduate students and post-docs in the Maize Genetics Community. While we hope that participation through this program will prepare and help guide interested individuals through the interview process, there is no guarantee that participation will lead to a job opportunity. Similarly, there is no expectation that a trainee will apply for an industry career. The goal is to provide a platform for professional interactions and help develop our community of researchers for the next step of their careers.
After the organizing committee receives the applications, the applicants will be assigned an industry representative at random. The 2021 industry sponsors include: BASF, Bayer Crop Science, Corteva Agriscience, Inari Agriculture, KWS, and NRGene. Each industry sponsor will then pair an applicant with a volunteer mentor based on the information provided in the application. The meeting frequency and topics covered will be unique to each mentor/mentee pair for the course of the program. Each year, starting at the Maize Genetics Meeting, the previous year's program will end and a new cohort of mentors/mentees will be formed.
