Q4: Option Selection (2023-24)
At ECVS, junior high students participate in complimentary courses or commonly referred to options. You will be placed in a new option every quarter, for a total of 4 options this year.  You will not be permitted to take the same option twice.

Options will run at the following times each week:

Tuesday - Grade 7s: Blocks 4 and 5

Instructions:

Please read through the following option descriptions that will be offered at ECVS during QUARTER 4. Select your top THREE choices from the options list. Please note that course fees have been included in the descriptions.

CTF Course Descriptions:

Food Science: In this option, students will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to use a variety of food preparation techniques to plan and prepare nutritious, tasty and attractive foods. Using critical thinking skills, students will work as a team to complete the day’s recipe in an efficient manner. Through these recipes, students will gain knowledge, skills and attitudes that have immediate and future applications in their personal lives, as well as in local and global environments. There will be a $30 fee per student.

HIIT: Looking for a physical challenge? Come to this session to get a sweat on with a "High-Intensity Interval Training " video-led workout for all levels. The workouts will be followed by a cool-down period (stretching & core). No experience necessary is needed, just a good mindset and willingness to participate.

Little Buddies - Do you like spending time and helping younger kids? In Little Buddies, you will be linked up with grade two students and have the opportunity to be a positive role model. You will teach them new skills, play games, build relationships and explore classroom activities.

Photography - Students will become familiar with cameras and their different options. Students will explore different aspects of photography with a focus on composition. How do you make a photo Instagram worthy? Students will also practice the art of doing critiques, in order to improve their own photographic skills. They will also dabble in editing pictures. This course has a $10 fee per student.

Rube Goldberg: A Rube Goldberg machine takes a simple task and performs it using a series of complicated and unnecessary steps. If this sounds like fun to you, then here is your opportunity to be creative, work with materials brought from home and/or available in the classroom and design, build and test (and quite likely modify) your very own Rube Goldberg machine.

Woods: Students will learn the tools and techniques of the wood shop, with an emphasis on safety, through hands-on learning. Students will use their woodworking skills through the design and construction of a wooden toy. This course will have a $40 fee per student.
