Computational Thinking Questionnaire
The PACT team at Maynooth University Department of Computer Science develops computer science resources and supports for teachers at both primary and secondary school level. All our workshops, school visits, and materials are free of charge. Teachers do not need any prior knowledge of computer science to attend our teacher CPD workshops.

Computational thinking (CT) is a set of problem solving skills that computer scientists use as they go about their daily work. We are in the process of resuming our CT teacher training and school visit programme and in these uncertain times would like to gauge the interest among the teacher community before finalising our plans.

Please fill in the questionnaire below to allow us plan the most suitable way to support your school during 2020-21. The questionnaire serves as provisional pre-booking for our school visits and workshops. We will also prioritise development and distribution of our materials based on the results of this questionnaire.

CT school visits
Our school visits can be modified to suit what each school prefers - depending e.g. on the size of school, number of teachers interested in attending, and age of pupils. Our typical approach is to run three separate 45 min. - 75 min. CT obstacle courses with about 30 pupils each during school hours and then have a 60 min. - 90 min. teacher training workshop immediately after school.

The CT obstacle course involves pupils working in pairs or in threes to solve computational thinking puzzles printed on large posters. Typically, we run it in a school hall and can tailor the obstacle course for a range of session durations. The obstacle course is suitable for students from 8 to 18 years old, but we can also accommodate younger pupils with a set of easier tasks if requested.

There is no charge as a result of funding from Science Foundation Ireland and Maynooth University.
