The STO candidate will be nominated by their Troupe Director. After that has occurred, the candidate will complete all application questions via the form below. This must be completed and submitted by October 1, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.

There is no general campaigning to become a member of the STO. After applications and qualifications are reviewed, students and sponsors attend all required meetings, workshops, activities, and interviews--the new STO's will be informed of the decision and then the new STO's will be introduced to the entire convention at Closing Ceremonies. The Candidate Process takes place the entire month of October with some scheduled meetings, activities and interviews with the current STOs. Students that complete the application will receive an email with itinerary to follow with the specifics.

All candidates are required to participate in the LIVE Leadership and Advocacy Workshops on the first Saturday of Festival 2020 unless due to scheduling, one is moved to the second Saturday. Registration is not necessary for the workshops but students will be counted for attendance. Students will need to be in the live versions of these workshops as part of the candidate process.

Students should follow and answer the questions listed below. Additionally, they must submit a video response to the application questions and upload it to YouTube. This is also due by October 1, 2020. Please limit your video to no more than 8 minutes. You will video yourself answering all the indicated questions on the application as if you are being interviewed. Those questions are marked as "Include in video." Send the YouTube link for private viewing by the committee to Nicole Morgan at nicole.morgan@texasthespians.org and include the link in the application. The email is forwarded and shared with all of the current STOs.

Additionally, you will submit a slate video that includes the following information: your name, your school, your troupe number, and your current grade level ("Freshman", "Sophomore", "Junior").

Please make sure that the student's Troupe Director(s) and Administration have seen the video before they send all recommendation/certification letters via email to Nicole Morgan at nicole.morgan@texasthespians.org. These are due by October 1, 2020. In the Principal Certification/Recommendation Letter, have them please acknowledge that they understand the student will be missing school to participate in STO events.

The student must also have a teacher outside of the theatre department submit a recommendation letter. They may send it directly to Mrs. Morgan at nicole.morgan@texasthespians.org.

Please make sure that the Theatre Director/Sponsor and Administration are aware of all responsibilities and expectations of selected candidates. This includes but is not limited to, all travel and rooming expenses that become the responsibility of the student and/or troupe, and attendance at all required meetings, training, and events that they work and know that they may contact Nicole Morgan at any time.
