An MIA Champion is anyone and everyone that supports the mission, vision and efforts of our organization. Being our champion does not end with your donations/contributions but also includes advocating and educating your networks/community about the importance of Minorities In Aquaculture as an organization.

There are 3 types of Champions that we need:
  • Champion Supporter: Everyone, no matter demographic, career field and/or location can become a champion supporter of MIA. We have succeeded so far because of the support of individuals and communities that believe in our mission and goals whether they are directly involved with aquaculture or not. By advocating for our organization's work/programs, educating your networks about MIA as a whole and/or connecting us with folks/organizations that you feel could help us achieve our goals, you help us continue to make a difference in the outreach you do.
  • Champion Partner: To create various resources that our MIA members & other underrepresented demographics in aquaculture/fisheries need to become successful in this industry, partners like aquaculture corporations/organizations to collaborate with us in providing internships and mentorship opportunities.
  • Champion Sponsor: For organizations not particular in the aquaculture/fisheries field that still want to help MIA provide resources that are needed for our network, sponsors can support funding programs and events, or field clothing such as oilskins, waders/boots, intern housing, transportation options and other goods/services that will enhance our organization's capacity to support of members many ways.
