In the recently published coalition agreement the new Dutch coalotion has specified plans to reintroduce the basic grant to all students. This system was formerly replaced by the study loan system that is currently in place.
The current generation of students have been unable to benefit from the former grant system, and may be unable to benefit from the new system as well, ending up with a significant debt. To compensate, the coalition specified a monetary compensation that is far below the average study debt.
To promote a fair, reasonable and realistic compensation for all students, a large number of student associations, the national student union, political organizations and participatory councils are joining the Compensatieprotest.
