Session Description and Speaker Bio

Indigenous Education: This session will help teacher candidates understand Indigenous education programs and how to support their Indigenous students better.

This session will be presented by a representative of the Ontario Ministry of Education under their professional development program for teacher candidates. Shelley Duquette-Lafortune, is a bilingual Education Officer for the Indigenous Education Branch of the Ministry of Education. Before coming to the Ministry in 2017, Shelley was a teacher, a High School Principal and an Indigenous Education Lead within a Northern French Public School Board. She is a member of Dokis First Nation and works primarily with the French Language Boards but also holds various Ministry Portfolios pertaining to Indigenous Education.
