This form is to register for the Young Friends Midwinter Retreat, February 14-17th, 2020 at Woolman Hill in Deerfield, MA. The theme of this retreat is "Caring for ourselves and each other". At this retreat we'll explore what "self-care" really means to us, practice ways of caring for our own spirits and each other's, and share about our experiences of giving and receiving care in community. We'll also sing, laugh, (hopefully) play in the snow, and get cozy by the wood stove!
Arrivals for the retreat will begin at 7pm on Friday, February 14th and the retreat will end at approximately 11:30am on Monday the 17th.
The purpose of Young Friends retreats is to create a space where high school age youth can experience time spent in community, to explore the Quaker faith & its practices, and to engage with the retreat theme. In order to honor this purpose, we ask that all participants come ready to connect respectfully with others in the group and to participate in the structured activities designed to support these connections. We also ask that participants share in the chores that make the retreat possible and do not engage in activities that negatively impact the physical or emotional safety of other participants. Participants should not use drugs or alcohol or engage in sexual activity during the retreat.
This retreat is pay-as-led, meaning there is no set fee and families can contribute as their budgets allow, from $0 to $250+. We suggest $160 per YF, or $100 if budgets are tight. We accept cash or check (made out to NEYM) at the time of the retreat.
You will not receive a confirmation email after submitting this form. About ten days before the retreat you will receive an email with details and carpooling information. If we need an updated health/emergency contact form from you, the coordinator will contact you at that time.
If you have additional questions about the retreat or if your plans change, please contact the Young Friends coordinator, Maggie Nelson, at
maggie@neym.org.
Please use one form per youth.
