Cleveland County Government, Cooperative Extension, Farm Bureau, and other community partners are seeking feedback from local farms to gauge interest in offering an educational series on agritourism ventures.
Calling all farmers - several organizations have joined together to offer the first Agritourism 101 workshop on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, from 6 to 8:30 PM at Cleveland County Schools – Central Services Staff Development Center located at 400 W Marion Street, Shelby.
This workshop aims to explore opportunities for hosting visitors on your farm, increasing revenues, diversifying income streams, and keeping family members engaged in the agricultural enterprise.
You can register for the workshop at: https://bit.ly/agritourism-101-workshop
Agritourism is a form of consumer engagement where farms “offer a variety of recreational, educational, and tourism activities to make their finances more resilient” (NC State Extension Tourism).
This is an opportunity for both new and experienced farmers across the region to learn more about agritourism and the opportunities available from local partners such as AgSouth Farm Credit, NC Farm Bureau, Cleveland County Cooperative Extension, Cleveland County Soil and Water Conservation, and more.
