Advocate Committee Action Items:
Our advocacy efforts include contacting businesses we want in our community. Volunteers will send a weekly email within a specified timeframe to a designated business we are recruiting. The chair will provide volunteers with an email address and instructions for contacting the businesses. The goal is to make sure the business receives an overwhelming number of requests form our community and recognizes that we are serious about them coming to our community. We encourage all volunteers to also reach out to that business via other avenues such as website contact page, Facebook private message, Instagram private message, and social media tagging.
Update Committee Action Items:
Updating the community about new businesses and developments coming to our area is one of our major efforts. See something new that is being built, but haven't heard what it is? As a member of this committee, you will check our website first to see if the information is posted and if not you will take action to look up information to find the answer that can then be shared with the broader community. Members of this group will receive helpful training and direction from the committee chair on the best ways to find this information. Additionally, members of this group will look for information/get photos of work in progress on what is coming soon.
Support Committee Action Items:
Supporting local businesses is a huge part of what we do. A strong business community is a sign of a strong community as a whole. Aside from our love for local, the success of our business community helps encourage other businesses to open on the Upper West Side. As our area’s population continues to grow, we need more businesses to meet the demand. Volunteers of this committee will send photos they take at local businesses to be used on UWSPHX social media. The chair will provide volunteers with an email address and instructions to submit photos. Unfortunately, because of the high volume of photos we anticipate, we will not be able to provide photo credit.
