Alina was a permanent resident from Romania until recently. Two months ago, she took the citizenship oath and is now a Canadian citizen. She is extremely excited about using her right to vote but she needs to wait a few years until the next election. She is now studying French because she knows French and English have equal status and it can help her get a job with the federal government. She has her own personal beliefs and opinions and tells people what she thinks, but at the same time, she respects other Canadians and their opinions. She does this because she knows Canada is a peaceful country and that respecting the many beliefs and opinions helps to maintain peace. She does not agree with everything her co-workers say but she is willing to listen and share.
