About Applied EpiApplied Epi is a grassroots, nonprofit organization that is the leading provider of R training and support for the public health workforce. Our free Epidemiologist R Handbook has been used over 2.7 million times by 750,000 people, and we have delivered synchronous R courses to 1,500 people at hundreds of health agencies including the US CDC, European CDC, Nigeria CDC, Doctors without Borders, WHO, national Ministries of Health, hundreds of district/local/county agencies, and Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs).

Course overview: The curriculum outline is available in our brochure. The course uses practical, public health case studies to teach fundamental skills like data cleaning, error troubleshooting, and making plots, tables, and automated reports. Sessions include live coding demonstrations, lectures, interactive facilitated coding exercises, and unlimited 1-on-1 tutoring opportunities with instructors. There is approximately one instructor for each six participants. 

Language: This course is delivered in English.

SchedulePrior to the course, you must schedule a 1-on-1 preparation call with an instructor to verify your software installations (R, RStudio, and RTools). The 10 virtualsynchronous classroom sessions are 3.5 hours each. Recordings are available. Unlimited 1-on-1 tutoring is available 24/7 for assistance with course material. Each graduate also receives 1 hour of 1-on-1 follow-up to be scheduled after the course finished.

Meeting platform: The sessions occur via Google Meets. Please join via Google Chrome web browser.

Prerequisites: Participants are required to be very comfortable using Microsoft Excel for cleaning and analysis, and to have exposure to statistical tools such as SPSS or EpiInfo. Experience with SAS, Stata, or Python is not required but will be beneficial. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please discuss with us.

Price per seat:  18 seats are available for immediate reservation at USD $ 975.00. Payment is preferred by bank transfer (accepted in USD, Euro, or GBP). Credit/debit card are also accepted through our PayPal payment portal, but with an additional transaction fee. Within a few days of receiving your reservation, you will receive an email with payment or waitlist instructions, as applicable. Payment must be made within 10 business days of receiving the invoice or we may cancel your reservation.
