2022-2023 Online Driver Education Program Application

Brownsville ISD in partnership with Region One ESC will offer eligible Section 504 students the opportunity to obtain a Learner’s Permit and Driver’s License through the Region One Driving Toward Success Initiative.  Parents of Section 504 students who meet the eligibility criteria set by Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations and Brownsville I.S.D., will have the opportunity to apply for a free voucher to enroll their child in the driver’s education program and challenge the driver’s license exam.

Section 504 students wishing to participate must meet the following eligibility requirements:
* Section 504 Eligibility Required 
* Identified 504 in grades 9-12 (14-17 and 18-22 years of age)
* Maintain passing grades
* Maintain appropriate attendance (no more than 10 unexcused absences in 6-month period)

Driver Education Program Requirements:
* 32- Hour Online Module Course
* 44- Hour Parent Driving Log (over 25 years and 7 years driving experience)

Driver Education Program Application Process:
1. Parents apply for Online Driver Education Program
2. Application is reviewed by Section 504/Dyslexia Department​
3. The student is evaluated through eligibility criteria

Students admitted to the Online Driver Education Program must maintain BISD attendance requirements, academic performance, complete 32-Hour Online Course and a 44-Hour Parent Driving Log.

Parents with multiple children must submit one application per child.
