The Prairie Land Conservancy's 2023 Bio Blitz event at Prairie Hills Wetland Reserve (PHWR) will focus on finding and identifying as many species as possible over a 24 hour period. We will work together to get a snapshot of PHWR’s vast biodiversity.
We are looking for qualified individuals to volunteer as:
1. Flora or fauna data collector.
We have biology focused events that are open tot he public too, Therefore, we are also looking for volunteers to be a
2. Naturalist instructor (i.e. lead an ID focused hike, more details below)
3. Event Volunteer (i.e. greeting the public, tabling, helping data collectors/instructors)
- You can help for just your time period, a couple of hours, a day, or the full 24 hour period.
- We will provide shirts that we ask you to wear so that the general public can identify you as a volunteer.
- Meals are provided for volunteers. Dinner Friday and lunch Saturday will be provided by the Goose Pit. Breakfast Saturday will be bakery items from Hy-Vee and coffee.
- We ask that volunteers drop off any needed gear in the parking lot and then park at the Goose Pit and walk back (.2 miles)
- We are providing two 10x10 tents, 20 chairs, 6 tables, a generator, water, a porta-potty and a handwashing station.
- We welcome informational tables/tents but we have limited space. Please indicate on the form if you would like to set one up and we will confirm the reservation with you as the event gets closer.
