First of May Creation Residency: Submission Form
The First of May Creation Residency at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts will offer 2 to 3 weeks of creation time for up to 14 people, inclusive of studio time, theater time and housing, plus technical assistance and personnel. This Residency will be awarded to artists or companies whose new, original work is based in circus/variety arts and is in an advanced stage of development; who state specific goals for their use of residency time in relation to the work; and who will be able to offer a public viewing of the work at the completion of the residency period. Former First of May Award Winners and participants in other residency programs for circus work are encouraged to apply.

Submissions will be evaluated based on artistic merit, originality, and variety arts relevance. Other criteria taken into consideration include the quality of the proposal itself, the project’s impact (social, community, etc.), its stage of development (with preference given to projects at an advanced stage of development), and clearly stated goals for the residency.

DEADLINE: Submissions must be received by 11:59PM EST on April 1, 2021.
