Please complete this form by Friday, September 30 2022 to register for the "CB" course designation for the Spring 2023 semester.

Your submission is reviewed by the Center for Community Engagement & Service (CCES) and then sent to your Department Chair for Approval. Once approved by your department chair, your course will be tagged as "CB" on the Spring schedule that goes live on 10/24.

We will review your final syllabus in early January. Your point of contact in CCES will be Saagar Gupta, the Coordinator for Community-Based Learning & Research.

Course Title *

The "CB" course designation requires that your course will meet the following criteria. Please indicate if your course will meet each of the 8 criteria listed below:

The entire class is involved in community-based learning.

Reciprocity is a key characteristic of this course.

Students are given the opportunity to critically reflect on their service and coursework.

Students participate in a minimum of 20 service-learning hours or a CB project.

I will prepare students to work with the community.

Academic credit is for learning not for service alone.

Students and the community partner/s serve as co-educators for this course.

I agree to share the CCES end of semester survey to with the class community partners.

Please plan to e-mail your syllabus and any supporting documents that you have in early January (specific service-learning assignment, list of community partners if known, learning outcomes) to the Community-Based Learning Coordinator (sgupta@american.edu). CCES staff will review your final syllabus for the 8 criteria listed above.
