Reporting Trends in Syringe Litter
The Monroe County Health Department is working to fulfill our mission to promote, protect, and improve the health and well being of Monroe County residents by better understanding where you, our residents, are finding syringe litter. We will use the information provided to target our efforts in conducting clean-ups, identifying potential future placement of sharps containers, and in providing services to mitigate syringe litter.

This form is meant to report trends in the past that you have noticed, and NOT to report a syringe that needs to be disposed of in the immediate future.

If you have found a syringe that you would like to report, or are unsure what to do, you may call the Health Department main line at 812-349-2543. If the call is after business hours, please leave a voicemail with your name, phone number and a detailed description of where the syringe is located so that we can address it during the next business day.

You can also use the information on http://bit.ly/MCHDSharpsDisposal if you feel empowered to dispose of the syringe yourself.

Please contact mvehslage@co.monroe.in.us with questions regarding syringe litter and syringe disposal options.

Please describe the location of where you frequently notice syringe litter. Please be as specific as you are able. For example, do not say 'the park' but rather, where in the park, bathrooms, near the tree line etc.
Are you willing to have Health Department staff contact you to follow up about the location that you have described?
