We’d like your input! In order to proceed with Covid-19 testing options, now known as “Covid-19 safety checks” (this includes pooled testing) for UNVACCINATED students, we need 80% of parents of UNVACCINATED students in each school on board. In order to determine if we should proceed with these options for our students, we’d like your input:  IF we proceed, will you consent to your student participating? This survey does NOT constitute permission for anything but is simply a collection of data for us.

What are Covid-19 testing options or safety checks? DESE is offering (free of charge) the option to make diagnostic and routine Covid-19 testing available to all schools for this school year. We have three options that each school committee will vote on. Here is a brief overview:
Symptomatic testing: when students present symptoms while at school; shallow nasal swab samples are tested using BinaxNOW rapid antigen tests
Test and Stay: when students are identified as close contacts in school; shallow nasal swab samples are tested using BinaxNOW rapid antigen tests; administered daily for at least five days from the first day of exposure
Pooled testing and lab-based follow-up testing: shallow nasal or saliva samples are collected from all participating students and kept separate before being grouped at the lab. If a group tests positive, individual follow-up testing occurs at the lab. Results are reported to schools.

If schools proceed with this, more information and official permission slips will follow. ATD school committee voted this week to proceed with pooled testing only; other school committees will vote in October.
