2024 Mentoring Day Parent Registration
Mentoring Day will be on March 11th, 2024 at Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College (2101 14th Street, Cloquet, MN, 55720) from 8:30 am to 3 pm.  This year we will be hosting approximately 320 10th-12th grade students with varying disabilities from 14 school districts (Barnum, Carlton, Cloquet, Cromwell-Wright, Esko, Fond du Lac, Hermantown, Lake Superior, McGregor, Moose Lake, Northern Lights Academy, Proctor, Willow River, Wrenshall and Duluth.    

Our main objective of the day is to provide our students with an opportunity to gain information and knowledge related to careers, post secondary education, community participation, independent living and recreation and leisure in order for them to make a smooth transition from high school into the adult world.  

The other big part of the day is the parent strand.  This provides parents with information related to a variety of topics that will help them support their child as they transition to adulthood along with connecting with agencies and supports for them and their child.  Parents will learn about the following topics; Vocational Rehabilitation Services, County supports, Social Security, basics of Secondary Transition, Guardianship and Supported Decision Making, Post-Secondary options, housing, social networks, etc.  There will also be opportunity for parents to network with one another and learn from each other.  

We will have a variety of local, state and federal agencies participating as exhibitors!  We would love to have a variety of parents with experience that can connect with other parents and help guide.  

Parent check in will start at 8:30 and the speakers will begin promptly at 9 am and the day will wrap up around 3 pm.  If transportation is an issue, please check with your child's case manager, many districts are providing transportation via school buses for parents.    

Coffee, water, snacks, and lunch will be provided to you as well!
