Dr. Noel Weiss: "Personalized prevention: What findings are needed to support this?"
Thank you for your interest in attending the February 18 UCLA Department of Epidemiology Seminar featuring Noel Weiss. Dr. Weiss is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington School of Public Health, and a Member in the Division of Public Health Sciences, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Sometimes, suggestions are offered for differential approaches to prevention that are based on differences in the frequency of illness outcomes. I will try to show that:
1. the magnitude of benefit provided by an intervention does not necessarily vary according to the size of the underlying risk of an illness; and
2. even when it does, it may not be appropriate to offer the intervention selectively to members of the high risk group.

The seminar will be held from 12-12:50 pm on February 18 in CHS Room 33-105.
Lunch will be served.
