Will you be able to meet the expectations of the BioPals project for the Spring semester? *
The BioPals project aims to increase connectedness among biograds by matching incoming first-year students with more senior graduate students (the “Pals”). The expectations of the BioPals project include meeting with your pal for a conversation of substance at least once a month, attending 1-2 virtual group gatherings with all BioPals participants during the semester, and filling out anonymous middle- and end-of-semester surveys about your experience in the BioPals project.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of science?
We can’t guarantee any specific matches or match characteristics, and we can make matches even if this section is left blank. That being said, the more specific, the easier it is for us to match you with someone who might have common interests!
Do you have any topic(s) that you feel you could give a first year biograd advice on? (being co-advised, rotating outside the department, diversity, picking classes, work/life balance, etc.)
We can’t guarantee any specific matches or match characteristics, and we can make matches even if this section is left blank.
What are your scientific interests?
This is entirely optional, but may be helpful in matching first-year Pals with upper years who can talk to them about specific fields in the department that they are interested in. We can’t guarantee any specific matches or match characteristics, and we can make matches even if this section is left blank.
Do you have any suggestions for fun virtual group events?
Our current ideas include Jackbox Party, Virtual Coffee Hour, and Movie Night
