Women of Color Embodied Knowledge Forum: Event Registration
Date: March 27, 2021 | *This event will be held on Zoom*
The Women of Color Embodied Knowledge Forum was created to center the diverse embodied knowledges of women of color, which includes a wide range of skills and practices such as work in the arts, spoken word, dance, mindfulness, health, crafts, and digital media. One of the main goals of the forum is to highlight the ways women of color have been supporting themselves and their communities through their embodied knowledges, and to imagine ways that their ways of being and knowing can be intentionally included and recognized in educational spaces. This goal is pursued through a combination of sessions which included hands-on workshops, artistic demonstrations, and guided dialogues with session participants.
In recognition of and solidarity with #BlackLivesMatter and Women’s History Month, this year's forum events are centered on Black women’s embodied knowledges of movement, healing & self-expression. This forum space is intended for individuals who identify as womxn of color and our allies, particularly those who are seeking to engage in meaningful discussion, movement, and reflection, as well as imagine//materialize more just communities and spaces of learning, centered in abolitionist, anti-racist, Black feminist, and/or womanist ideology and praxis.
