Chorus 2022 Volunteer Staff Roles
Hello there friendly human! We're thrilled you're considering volunteering for Chorus 2022! As you peruse the roles below, please note that each role includes an estimate of total time commitment. Positions are divided into three sections indicating whether they require more advance planning or are more involved during the weekend of the conference itself (Friday May 20 - Monday May 23). No matter how much time you are able to contribute, we promise there is a role for you! You are welcome to sign up for more than one role. Lastly, please note all volunteers will meet digitally approx. 2 times before the conference to touch base. Questions? Please feel free to reach out to Micaela at chorus@cuc.ca!

This form will close at midnight PST on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Planning Only Roles
These roles require planning in advance of the event, but have no responsibilities during the weekend itself.
Accessibility Consultant: We're committed to planning the most inclusive, equitable event possible. To achieve that, it's essential that we plan this in conversation with those living with a disability/disabilities, neurodiverse folks, and those with lived experience of marginalization. To be clear, it is not the responsibility of the A.C. to ensure the event is accessible - rather, we are hoping you will lend us your thoughts to improve our plans. While this individual will ideally be able to attend the conference (funding is available) this is not a requirement. Time commitment: 3-5 hours in advance, on call throughout the weekend.
Transportation Coordinator: Your main job will be to coordinate rides from the airport to the site location and back again. You will also play a key role on Sunday, when the YAs go to visit the Youth at a different church. Time commitment: 5-8 hours before the event.
Planning and On-Site Roles
These roles require some advance planning as well as navigating some on-site responsibilities.
Community Captain: This person ensures everyone feels safe and included within our community. They are definitely a people person, and are very aware of group dynamics. You will play a particularly important role on the first day of the conference, breaking the ice and introducing participants to each other. Time commitment: 3-5 hours before the conference, very present on the first day of the conference, on call throughout the rest of the event.
Workshop/Activity Leader: We're looking for folks who can lead a work shop (i.e. a craft circle, game, discussion group). You are welcome to lead any activity for which you are enthusiastic, just specify below! Time commitment: 3 hours of advance planning, 2 hours during the conference.
If interested, what would your workshop be about?
Chalice Circle Leader: You will lead approx. three short (~30-60 mins) group sessions of deeper sharing time amongst 3-5 people. We will walk you through facilitating in advance, and you will be given everything you need to succeed. This role is perfect for those who don't have a lot of time to commit to planning before the conference. Time commitment: 3-4 hours of in advance, 3 hours during the event.
Chalice Circle Coordinator: If you love Tetris, this is the role for you! You will organize conference attendees into groups, ensure every group has a leader, and provide outlines for group activities & discussion throughout the weekend. You will also lead a brief facilitation workshop before the weekend to ensure Chalice Circle Leaders are comfortable. Time commitment: 5-10 hours in advance, as needed to coordinate throughout the weekend.
Worship Coordinator(s): Together or as a team, you will coordinate approx. 3 worships throughout the weekend, weaving together music, readings, and spiritual reflection to create meaningful worships for the group. This role requires creativity, teamwork, some comfort with public speaking, and is essential to our spiritual communion. Comfort with song leading is an asset! Time commitment: 8 - 10 hours in advance, approx. 5 hours during the event.
On-Site Only Roles
No advance planning is required for these roles - these responsibilities occur during the weekend itself. Some require a bit of work after the event takes place.
Worship Helper: You will provide support to the worship coordinator(s) during the event. This may involve reading passages to the group, leading songs, or whatever is needed to help a worship run smoothly (you will have lots of say regarding what you'd like to contribute). Time commitment: None in advance, apprx. 4 hours during the event.
Tech Wizard: Be the point person to manage any needed tech through the weekend, including streaming a few segments. Time commitment: 1-2 hours in advance, on call throughout the event to provide support as needed.
