What parts of Outreach Committee interest you? (Pick more than 1 if you want!) *

Elementary School Outreach: focuses on reaching out to elementary school students through major events such as Girl Scout Day and the Monthly Mentors program, where volunteers get to engage students in neighboring elementary schools with engineering curriculum and events.

Middle School Outreach: works on engaging middle schoolers in STEM education by bringing engineering opportunities to neighboring communities each month through the Monthly Mentors program. Also can help with BAE (Building an Engineer) Day, a bi-annual event, where students are invited to campus for a full day of hands-on activities led by various Cal Poly Engineering clubs.

High School Outreach: volunteer to help get high schoolers excited enough about STEM to consider it as a choice of major or career path. Help to plan and organize the bi-annual SWE Welcome where prospective students get to visit Cal Poly, attend classes, and learn more about engineering opportunities.

SWENext: aids in supporting the SWENext club network (high school SWE clubs) and in planning the annual SWENext Leadership Training Conference and Design Challenge Competition. Members will organize the SWENext biweekly email, conference, and design challenge as well as mentor the SWENexters within the network.

Community College Outreach: help plan the 2nd annual Transfer Retreat Day that allows community college students to visit Cal Poly and get engaged with hands-on activities led by Cal Poly clubs. Also provide input and help organize social events such as a bonfire for transfer students to get to know one another.

Robotics: during Fall quarter, focus on the VEX IQ Central Coast Workshop for elementary school students to learn engineering concepts while improving their robots for competition. We are also hosting the Central Coast VEX Competition in January where over 50 teams will compete to win the 2020 tournament in Tower Takeover!
