communication skills of early career corrosionists, will be awarded during
Eurocorr2024 (Paris 01-05.09).

About the awards?
• We will reward the 2 most innovative presentations in terms of their communicative power and scientific quality. The goal of these presentation awards is to highlight outstanding skills to communicate scientific content, using them to enthuse, inspire, explain the subject and results.
• The awards are donated by Mankiewicz. A maximum of 2 awards are attributed during Eurocorr2024. If warranted by the quality of the presentations, one award is directed to corrosion-related applied/industrial advances and the other to more fundamental research.
• The value of each award is 500 €. Payments are made after Eurocorr2024.
• By registering to the event, the finalists agree that their information can be posted on EFC social media and agree to be interviewed by the YEFC.
Selection Process
1. Preselection:
• Submit a 3-minute (3M) video about your research one month before Eurocorr2024
* preselection of max. 10 finalists by a jury of Young EFC and local organizing committee members
The video and data remain confidential.
2. Selection of the awardees during Eurocorr2024
* evaluation will be made by an independent jury panel based on:
• communication skills:
o
intuitive structure;
o
grasping presentation;
o
attractive graphical elements;
o
clarity and conciseness;
o innovative use of technologies
• scientific aspects:
o scientific quality;
o potential impacts of the results;
o innovativeness of the approach;
Eligibility
1. Applicants must have less than eight-year professional experience upon submission (incl. PhD). Other applicants may also be considered if there are extraordinary grounds (e.g. illness, parental leave or similar circumstances) for doing so.
2. Applicants must be first authors of an oral presentation at Eurocorr2024
3. Applicants must register and attend Eurocorr2024
Virtual rules for the preselection round
• Prepare a presentation of minimum 2 and maximum 3 minutes of your research topic. Competitors exceeding this are disqualified.
• Presentations are considered to have commenced when a presenter starts speaking (timing does not include title slide).
• Only 1 static slide can be used to support the presentation.
• The decision of the adjudicating panel is final.
Please note: competitors *will not* be judged on video/ recording quality or editing capabilities (optional inclusions). Judging will focus on the presentation, ability to communicate research to an audience, and 3M PowerPoint slide.
Confidentiality:
The jury members undertake to observe strict confidentiality
in relation to the 3M presentation submitted. These videos will not be shared on social media.
