Programme Highlight

The Hong Kong Star Ferry and adjacent Central Public Ferry Piers are located at iconic positions aside the Victoria Harbour, Mr. Chan wishes to share his experience on works quality control of the marine deck and substructures of costal infrastructures at harbour side to minimise future maintenance cost during the entire design life.

Mr. Chan joined the Highways Office of the Public Works Department in 1973 and was subsequently promoted to Senior Inspector of Works in 1989. As a frontline quality control team leader over the past 40 years, he played a pivotal supervisory role in ensuring our major civil engineering projects are all up to standard. Mr. Chan was elected as Associate Member of the HKIE in 1986 and earned The HKIE Present’s Award 2014. Mr. Chan is currently serving as Vice Chairman (External) of The Institution of Clerks of Works & Construction Inspectorate (Hong Kong).
