County Clare Explorers Education Programme™ Application Form 2023-2024
Applications to book your class on the marine cross-curricular Explorers Education Programme™ 2023-2024 is now open to senior cycle teachers and their classes in Co. Clare. Closing date is 15th of September.

Teachers may apply for one of the following exciting interactive modules: 


- Explorers Marine Project (most include 4th -6th class students)

- Explorers Seashore Safari (most include 4th -6th class students)


The modules include up to two class visits by an Explorers Education Officer who will introduce students to their topic, provide teaching guides and fun cross-curricular lesson plans that support the NCCA curriculum, as well as a range of teachers resources and activities. 

On completion of the module and a presentation of the class related work, the students will be awarded an Explorers Certificate of Participation. 

The Explorers Education Programme™ is supported by the Marine Institute and is funded under the Marine Research Programme by the Irish Government. The modules are free of charge unless otherwise stated.

APPLYING FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE EXPLORERS EDUCATION PROGRAMME™:

Please complete the Explorers Education Programme™ application form below.  Please indicate your preference of module and term time, as places are limited. 

While the Explorers Education Programme™ team aspires to visit all classes, there is no guarantee that the teacher’s first preference will be successful. However other options may be offered where possible.

Where multiple applications are received from one school, the Explorers team may not be able to accommodate all classes. 

Teachers participating in the programme will be required to take part in an information session prior to the commencement of the programme to assist with preparing them for the modules in class. Some sessions are mandatory for a selection of the modules. These sessions will be carried out online. 

Teachers will be asked to partake and assist with an evaluation of the Explorers Education Programme™ including pre and post-evaluations of their attitudes and awareness and the student’s ocean literacy levels. These will include online forms, quizzes and assessments of projects and work completed during school visits.
