Creatives of Color BOSTON presents
IN-BETWEEN SPACES
Who you are can change based on who you’re with, where you are, and what you are doing. People of color play this game of code switching every single day and yet our identity and sense of belonging can still get called into question, by others or even by ourselves.
IN-BETWEEN SPACES is a one-day, popup group exhibition in which artists of color will use visual and performative art to dissect the feelings of displacement and doubt that can result from code switching. Presented by Creatives of Color BOSTON, we are looking for artists whose work will contribute to the ever ongoing discussion of identity and race as experienced by persons of color. All mediums are welcome, both two and three dimensional works are eligible.
Please submit your application. If accepted into the exhibition, artists will pay a flat $15 fee, but are welcome to sell their work at the exhibition if they choose to do so. Participating artists are expected to de/install their own works and bring their own tools as well.
This exhibition will be hosted by Make Shift Boston on Saturday, July 20th from 5-8pm. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
Deadline: June 15th
Artists will be notified of their acceptance on or before June 23rd, 2019. If accepted, a representative from Creatives of Color BOSTON will follow up with any additional informational details.
