Summer Camps at The Drizzle Effect

A summer workshop series where children are invited to be as silly or as serious as they want. This is a place for kids to explore their ideas through different genres and modes of writing. Frequently using art and illustrations as our inspiration, we won't worry if spelling is correct, or if punctuation is exactly right. We encourage children to feel safe to be creative THEIR way. 

PLUS The Rainbow Retreat: A Mindfulness Camp, hosted by Steff Price, founder of Infinite Rainbows.


SCHEDULE
Week 1: Imagination Island
July 8 - 11 (M-Th)
9:30AM - 12PM
Imagination will soar as writers unlock their creativity. This week will focus on each of the elements of a good story, with our authors developing rich characters, setting the scene with sensory description, creating plot twists and illustrating their story too.

Week 2: Time Travelers
July 15 - 18 (M-Th)
9:30AM - 12PM
Our authors will look at different genres and travel through time to explore futuristic tales and historical settings too.

Week 3: Poetic Harmony
July 22-25 (M-Th)
9:30AM - 12PM
What do poetry and music have to do with one another? Rhyme, rhythm, beat … authors will dive into the nuances of poetry to review style, shape and sound accompanied by musical melodies. 

Week 4: The Playwright's Pavilion
July 29 – Aug 1 (M-Th)
9:30AM - 12PM
From the page to the stage, authors will learn the elements of playwriting to include dialogue development, creating the scene and stage directions too.

SPECIAL Week 5: The Rainbow Retreat with Infinite Rainbows
August 5 - 9 (M-F)
9:30AM - 12PM
$325 -- inviting all children ages 6-11
This week long mindfulness camp offers a magical journey for children. Through engaging activities, they'll learn invaluable mindfulness strategies, connect with nature's wonders, and ignite their creativity. Join us for a transformative experience where young minds bloom like never before! Each day will include a yoga session, nature adventure, craft, and mindfulness games.
