9MUSM: Music Academy Application 2023

9 Academy (9MUSM) is a 3-term course that extends and develops students who have previously learnt, and are currently learning, a musical instrument (includes voice). It is a mostly practical course and students develop their ensemble awareness by playing in either a class orchestra/band, vocal ensemble, and smaller rock/pop and chamber groups. Academy students have priority to learn their instrument through the Itinerant Music Programme and all students have performance opportunities each term, and basic guitar and ukulele skills are taught in class. Students also extend their musicianship by developing their knowledge of theory, composition, aural skills and a range of music contexts.
