Instructions To The Monitor/Evaluator

1. The candidate shall be provided with a ditch or culvert with flowing water through it or simulation.
2. The candidate shall be provided with needed materials for constructing an appropriate dam.
3. The evaluator shall determine which dam will be built by the candidate by identifying the product as heavier than or lighter than water.
4. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise.

Instructions To The Candidate

Given a spill of an identified product lighter/heavier than water flowing into a culvert or ditch and the proper tools shall successfully perform proper damming procedures.

6 Steps *

1) Wears full PPE.

2) Prevents direct contact with product.

3) Approaches from the upwind side.

4) Chooses the appropriate type of dam to be utilized.

5) Applies the dam at the further most point in the ditch or culvert to avoid contact.

6) Controls excessive runoff.
