About Applied EpiApplied Epi is a grassroots, nonprofit organization that is leading public health's transition to R. Our free Epidemiologist R Handbook has been used over 1.2 million times by 350,000 people, and we have delivered R courses to epis from dozens of health agencies including the US CDC, European CDC, Doctors without Borders, WHO, and the Nigeria Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP).

Course overview: A focus on practical, public health case studies emphasizing data cleaning and making plots, tables, and automated reports. Sessions include live coding demonstrations, lectures, interactive facilitated coding exercises, and 1-on-1 support meetings with instructors. There will be a maximum of 24 students with 4 instructors. You can read more in our brochure or our training page

Language: This course is delivered in English.

Schedule: The classroom instruction will consist of 10 virtualsynchronous sessions of 3.5 hours each. Before the course, you are expected to schedule a 1-on-1 preparation call with an instructor to verify that your software installations (R, RStudio, and RTools) and download of course materials is complete. Each participant will receive 1 hour of follow-up with an instructor, to be scheduled after the course finished.

Meeting platform: The course will occur via Google Meets. Please join via Google Chrome web browser.

Prerequisites: Participants are required to be very comfortable using Microsoft Excel for cleaning and analysis, and to have exposure to statistical tools such as SPSS or EpiInfo. Experience with SAS, Stata, or Python is not required but will be beneficial. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please discuss with us.

Price per seat12 seats are available for immediate reservation at USD $ 975.00. Payment is preferred by bank transfer (accepted in USD, Euro, or GBP). PayPal or credit/debit card are also accepted, but additional fees may apply. Within a few days of receiving your reservation, you will receive an email with payment or waitlist instructions, as applicable. Payment must be made within 10 business days of receiving the invoice or we may cancel your reservation. 

Scholarships:
12 additional seats will be offered at either full or partial scholarship. To apply, complete the application section in this form and email your CV to contact@appliedepi.org. All applications received prior to 19 February will be evaluated, and all applicants will be emailed with their result by 24 February. You are welcome to apply for multiple cohorts, via their respective application forms (links).

Scholarship seats are prioritized for applicants who 1) are financially otherwise unable to attend, 2) work in public health or applied/field epidemiology, 3) are likely to succeed in the course, and 4) are positioned to benefit their colleagues by advancing R in their workplace.
