I am pleased to let you know that your child’s team has selected your child as a student who could greatly benefit from attending our Mattoon Middle School Summer Programs. We are offering two programs this summer. The first program is called 5th Quarter. In this program, the students will focus on missing essential skills to “complete” this school year’s learning. Students will also have the opportunity to work with Golden Apple Scholars who will be providing enrichment activities.
The focus of 5th Quarter will be a personalized learning program for reading, math, and social emotional learning based on their current grade level curriculum. Engaging in hands-on learning opportunities will be provided each and every day your child attends. There is no cost for your child to attend. A free breakfast and lunch will be provided to each student. The district will also provide transportation to and from school for those students who are eligible. 5th Quarter will be offered Monday through Friday, June 6-24 from 8:30-12:00
The second summer school opportunity is Jump Start. This program is designed to give students a “jump start” into the next school year by helping to provide a successful transition from one grade level to the next.
The focus of Jump Start will be on reading, math, and social emotional learning based on the first quarter curriculum of the new grade level that students will be promoted to. Engaging hands-on learning opportunities will be provided each and every day your child attends. There is no cost for your child to attend. A free breakfast and lunch will be provided to each student. The district will provide transportation to and from school for those students who are eligible. Jump Start will be offered Monday through Friday, July 18-29 from 8:30-12:00.
Enrollment in these programs are limited. If you are interested in having your child attend, please complete the attached enrollment form and return it to the Mattoon Middle School office or your child’s team leader by May 13th. Additional information will be sent to you regarding your child’s enrollment status at the end of May.
