Workshop 1 - Learning from errors

Overview:
This workshop examines learning from incidents and techniques for decision analysis. Participants will explore how the hospital uses incident-recording to drive learning, hear insights developed in analysis of major disasters in aviation and energy industries, and consider what lessons can be applied to learning from errors in healthcare research.

Workshop 2 - Artificial intelligence in healthcare
Lead/s:
Professor Adrian Hopgood, Director, Future and Emerging Technologies

Overview:
The NHS Long Term Plan prioritises using “artificial intelligence (AI) to help clinicians in applying best practice, eliminate unwarranted variation across the whole pathway of care, and support patients in managing their health and condition” This workshop will explore the local opportunities and expertise that could help achieve this.

Workshop 3 - Innovation and healthcare technology funding workshop
Lead/s:
Research Design Service (RDS) South Central

Overview:
This workshop will provide an overview of some of the key funding streams that are available to support innovation and healthcare technology. Experts from the NIHR’s RDS team will be on hand to give tips and advice on how to build a successful application and what support is available.

Workshop 4 - Innovation in health education and simulation

Mick Harper, Associate Head (Innovation), SHSSW
Sam Tarrant, Senior Specialist Technician, Centre for Simulation in Healthcare

Overview:
This workshop offers an opportunity to explore the latest innovations in health education and simulation in the UoP’s world class facilities. You will see how the next generation of healthcare professionals are taught using virtual reality, haptic equipment and 3D innovations in a state of the art simulation environment.
