These typically involve business situations where coworkers are requesting or confirming information about clients, procedures, schedules and other topics. Sometimes these texts involve social interactions among friends.

A common question type for this text asks about the intended meaning of an expression used in the chat.

     -"What does ... probably mean by ...?"

They are either idiomatic expressions or social expressions and you need to consider the context of the exchange to indicate the writer's intentions.
