Submit a talk for fintech_devcon 2024
fintech_devcon will take place August 7-9, 2024 in Austin, Texas at the Fairmont Hotel.

The event exists to make fintech knowledge accessible to all. We invite developers, engineers, and product leaders to contribute by sharing your triumphs and setbacks encountered during the fintech development journey. This is not the the place for product pitches.

Here's a guide to kickstart your pitch:
  • Reflect on a challenge, obstacle, or issue you faced while working on a fintech product.
  • How did you overcome the problem? What mistakes, shortcuts, workarounds, or detailed steps can you share to help other builders learn from your experience?
Selected speakers will receive a free registration, which includes access to all breakout sessions, keynotes, conference meals, official fintech_devcon networking events, and swag.

Keep in mind:

  • 🏗️. Submissions should focus on real problems you’ve run into as a builder and how you solved them.  🏗️
  • 🙅‍♀️  Sessions containing sales/marketing pitches will NOT be selected.  🙅‍♂️
  • 📆  Submission deadline is March 1. We will not review pitches until after submissions close. Any submission received after March 1 will be added to a waitlist. 📆
  • 📣  All selected speakers will be notified by the end of April.  📣
  • 📚 Speakers are welcome to submit more than one pitch. 📚
  • 🎟  Sponsorship is not a consideration when evaluating proposals.  🎟
  • ❤️ We are committed to selecting a team of speakers that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills and we embrace diversity, creativity, and equal opportunity.❤️

Roadblock talks (45 minutes)
These sessions focus on the hurdles, snags, and problems you've encountered while working on fintech products. These sessions explain a “roadblock” and teach other builders how to overcome it using shortcuts, workarounds, and other unique resolutions. Please share tangible solutions like guides, templates, and detailed steps that they can replicate in their work. Examples include:
  • Preparing for your first SOC2 audit
  • Synchronizing ledger data in real-time
  • What I wish I knew before building a payments processor

Workshops (85 minutes)
Unlike roadblock talks, workshops offer hands-on coding demonstrations where speakers teach attendees how to build and solve a particular problem. Sessions must be interactive with a clear goal from the start and speakers must provide the required tools and repos prior to the event. Attendees should walk away with a completed fintech project. Examples from last year include:
  • Building a payments system on open source
  • Deploy a risk engineering infrastructure on open source
  • Building a developer feedback experience through friction logging
