Tidy Up For The Turtles!
Our leatherback sea turtles are coming back to Sandy Point to nest! We want to make sure that the refuge beaches are clean of trash and woody debris so our turtles can safely nest without obstacles!

Join us at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge, Saturday 26 March at 7:00 am! We will meet at the refuge parking lot, assign clean up beaches, give you supplies, and then head into the refuge. All supplies for the clean up will be provided, please wear sturdy shoes and bring sun protection. By signing up and attending the clean up, you will be entered into a raffle for t-shirts, tank tops, stickers, and more! Our turtle team will also be there to answer questions about sea turtles, volunteering with the project, and Turtle Watch!

For our clean up we will be using the "Clean Swell" app (or the paper version) which allows you to categorize the debris that you pick up off the beach! We can then see how much of each debris type was cleaned from Sandy Point beaches. We will follow up with more information regarding the "Clean Swell" app!
