Co-Development of Distinction Based Health Legislation
The Government of Canada has committed to reforming our health care system so that Indigenous people have access to safe, quality care, no matter where they live. To do this, they are seeking to co-develop distinctions-based health legislation in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Ensuring Indigenous youth voices are heard and respected is our biggest priority, and we know it is crucial to create space for Indigenous youth to share their perspectives and experiences with health care. CRE is hosting engagements (through sharing circles and a policy hackathon) designed to ensure just that. Doing this will ensure that any law trying to improve access to safe, quality healthcare can truly respond to diverse Indigenous realities.

Understanding that we wish to include a wide range of voices, we are also offering this supplementary survey to folks who are not able to attend our virtual engagements.

*Please note, all information collected will be kept anonymous, and no names will be attached to information included in our final report. If you have any questions please reach out to centre@canadianroots.ca.

*Eligibility: participants do not need to have a background in health or legislation to complete this survey. The only requirement is that folks identify as Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, and/or Inuit) and are between the ages of 18 and 29.
