Beta Reading and Proofreading Service
If you're interested in hiring be me for Beta Reading or Proofreading, please fill out the form, and I'll get back to you as soon as I'm available.

For Proofreading: I will mostly tackle spelling, grammar, punctuation, incorrect word usage, highlight when something may be confusing, or frequent use of a word. I will never rewrite or suggest changes that do not pertain to any of the aforementioned items. It's my goal to be respectful and considerate of an author's unique voice and writing style.

For Beta Reading: I can compartmentalize my personal preferences so they do not interfere with your story. If you write with heavy descriptions, that's okay. If you write mostly dialogue and short, fast-paced prose, that's okay. I will never criticize something just because it's not how I write or not my preferred preference.
So what will I tackle while beta reading?
I'll read for consistency and clarity. I'll highlighting any possible plot holes, if a character or location description changed, anything that might be confusing, possible contradictions, how things seem to flow, etc. I'll also provide with my general reactions and thoughts as I go, but I'll make distinct notes so you know if I'm just reacting to how a character is behaving or my general thoughts for where things might be headed.
There are times I may comment on something that is what I'd classify as a personal preference (i.e.: dialogue, descriptions, etc.) BUT, I will make a clear statement that it is a personal preference and why I'm in love with how you wrote it or why I'd suggest making some adjustments.
The reason I handle things this way is because you, as the author, know your story better than I do. You know where things are going. You know why you're writing something the way you're writing it. I'm coming in with a limited perspective as a reader.

I want to treat everyone the way I would want myself and my books to be treated.

Special Note: Even though I am not providing Sensitivity Reading, if I do come across something that I think may potentially be problematic (promoting homophobia, transphobia, racism, abuse, etc.) I will make a note so you're aware of the issue so you can address it. I also reserve the right to refuse to work with someone if their work promotes homophobia, transphobia, racism, abuse, etc. I will not put my name on anything that promotes hate or that I think can cause harm to people.
