At a local architecture firm, Employee A feels they are being pigeonholed into doing office “housework.” The firm only has five employees, so everyone is expected to wear several hats, however Employee A is the only one consistently asked to do administrative tasks. Employee A is a woman and is often told by her manager that she is assigned this type of work because she is better suited for it compared to the other employees who are men.

Employee A feels like she is missing out on more glamourous and technically demanding assignments that would lead to career advancement/promotion. She is thinking about quitting but is willing to have one last conversation with her manager.

Which of the following ethical standards and rules from the  AIA’s 2020 Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct  suggests Employee A’s discontent is warranted and that her manager should revise how they assign projects?
