Meeting with your advisor does not guarantee you a spot in any of the classes listed. It is your responsibility to register for classes at the earliest opportunity available to you.
You are responsible for ensuring that the courses you take will fulfill degree requirements and meet prerequisites or corequisites. Advisors are not responsible for courses you take that do not apply toward degree requirements or delay graduation.
The recommendations listed are contingent on your successfully completing your current term registration. Registration for the next semester and/or graduation is likely dependent upon successful completion of courses in the current semester.
You must earn 120 total hours for your degree; 36 of those hours must be in your CCJ major and 36 must be 300 or 400-level in any discipline (300 or 400-level courses that count toward your major also count toward the upper level course requirement).
A minor or a secondary major is required for degree fulfillment.
Full-time status is at least 12 hours, though you are encouraged to take more if you feel comfortable doing so. Tuition is the same for 12 to 16 hours. Special permission and a 3.0 UA GPA are required for more than 18 hours. Be sure to tell your advisor about any special programs you are in (e.g. prelaw, honors, etc.).
VMA forms cannot be signed by departmental advisors. They must be sent to student.services@as.ua.edu.
CCJ Department advisors can only officially advise on progress within your CJ major. Students enrolled in the Honors College or a secondary major are encouraged to meet with their program advisor each semester, in addition to meeting with a CCJ advisor.
