Congratulations, you are auditioning for the 2020 Intermediate Musical Theater class (IMT), directed by Jules Snarr. This class will not start until January 2020, third quarter. The fees for this class are $125 and will be expected to be paid by January 2020 (you may make payments toward these fees beginning in August 2019). The $125 fee includes but is not limited to their script, the majority of their costume, a spiritwear Tshirt and a lovenote for the program. In addition to the fees, you will also be required to pay for Jazz Shoes ($15-$30 on Amazon) and part of your costume (usually leggings/tights and a leo for the girls.....pants and a shirt for the boys, but this varies on the show). Tickets are $7 for the production of Wizard of Oz. You are welcome to purchase as many tickets as you wish. We will also have 4 tech rehearsals and 6 performances in which your child will need dinner. You may purchase the meals through the school ($5/meal $50 total) or provide your own dinner. Also, we will have DVD's available for $25-$35 should you wish to purchase one.
One more very important thing regarding IMT. By signing up for this class you will agree to maintain a 2.75 GPA with NO F's and NO U's in any class, all four quarters. I pull grades frequently. We will discuss this further at a parent meeting in January 2020.
For your audition, it is highly recommended for you to bring a current resume and headshot. This is also something I teach in Drama 1, which is the prerequisite for IMT. In Drama 1 we will prepare a one minute monologue, we will speak about where to look for music when auditioning and will also create a headshot and resume. However, if you have a resume and headshot, please please please bring it to the audition.
You will also need to prepare and perform a one minute monologue and a one minute song from a broadway musical-to be performed with a backing or minus track. Sometimes the school's wifi goes out, please prepare for this by downloading your audition track, have it pre-recorded on your voice memo's or bring a CD.
As always, if you go to
julessnarr.com and type "perfect audition" into the search engine in the right hand column, you will be directed to a powerpoint/video I put together for my classes. Please review this. Some of video/powerpoint is meant for me to lecture in Drama 1 and may not make sense when viewing it on
julessnarr.com, however, the majority of this powerpoint/video will help you prepare a perfect audition.
Please know, these auditions are for placement into the class for IMT, however, there is a high chance I will be able to cast the leading characters from these auditions. Perhaps not all of the leading characters, but for the most part-- these auditions will give me a great idea regarding the cast of characters for the Wizard of Oz, YPE.
If you are using your phone to access
julessnarr.com you will need to scroll down to the bottom and click on "view web page". This will take you to the full website with the right column in view.
I am SO EXCITED for these auditions! Do your very best, relax and have fun. I want you to succeed and feel great after your audition. There may also be improv request at your audition :) Be ready for anything! 'SEE YOU THERE
