Hello and Welcome to the Barack Obama School of Leadership and STEM!! We are so excited that you will be a part of our school next year! We have many wonderful innovation classes for you to choose from!
Each 4th and 5th grader will have 6 class periods. All students are enrolled in English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Physical Education. Parents/Students using this form will choose elective courses for the year related to their interest and availability of the requested course.

Creative Media Arts - students will have a fun and engaging class where students create music, art, video, animation and even video games.

Broadcasting - students will have the opportunity to learn and apply the fundamentals of broadcasting audio and video production.

STEM Lab - students will explore how STEM is incorporated into our everyday lives

Lego Lab - students will have the opportunity to use a familiar toy that can relate to everyday concepts in complex architecture, engineering and innovation problem solving.

Illinois Math and Science Academy - students will participate in Hands on Science/Math class where students engage in lab experiments, STEM challenges and engineering competitions.

Art - students will learn what artists do by incorporating the Studio Habits of Mind using ceramics, paints and other materials.

Dance - students will utilize their gift of dance as a vehicle to encourage, uplift and express themselves.

Horticulture - students will work on projects in plant science, food production, nutrition and business applications.

Choir - students will learn and perform vocal music from various genres.

Beginning Band - full year - students will learn techniques on an instrument and play in group settings throughout the year.
