The NSF-supported workshop will occur in Seattle on May 20-24 from 9 am-5 pm Pacific Time (with breaks). The workshop aims to introduce a diverse audience to high-performance computing and data science for seismological research. We base all tutorials on real-life applications and provide hands-on experiences.
By the end of the week, participants will be able to run open-source seismic software in parallel on the Cloud and on HPC clusters with a focus on wavefield simulations, source characterization, ambient noise seismology, and earthquake catalog building aided by machine learning.
Remote participation is possible for a limited number of participants. The training will be recorded for asynchronous learning.
Travel support
We will provide domestic travel support for 15 participants. Criteria will be based on 1) attendance to the full workshop, 2) travel funding support available to participants, 3) balance in representation at workshop.
